Growing Opportunities is one of 78 farms across Canada selected to participate in the Canadian Organic Vegetable Improvement (CANOVI) seed trials this year.
We will be growing a selection of heat-tolerant lettuce varieties sourced primarily from Canadian seed growers.
These trials are an opportunity for farmers to grow and evaluate vegetable crops suitable for their climate and operation. The information gathered through these trials will help farmers:
Identify the best-performing varieties for Canadian growers, both for market garden production and seed production
Build capacity to conduct on-farm variety trials useful for their farming operation
Build a network of farmers interested in variety trials to share learnings and experiences
